Moravian College to host training “Behavioral Health Concerns in Military-Connected Patients: An Overview” on March 28

BETHLEHEM, PA., March 22, 2018: Today, Moravian College announced that Kathy Gray, DNP, FNP-C, will introduce Diana C. Dolan, Ph.D., CBSM, a clinical psychologist with the , who will present “Behavioral Health Concerns in Military-Connected Patients: An Overview for Civilian Primary Care Providers” on Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Prosser Auditorium on the Main Street campus of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa.

“Moravian College is honored to host this extremely important training with Diana Dolan,” said Kathy Gray, director, nurse practitioner programs at Moravian College. “There are many factors that impact the health of our veterans, and learning how to recognize the signs will go a long way to ensure they’re getting the treatment they need.”

This event is part of the Moravian College InFocus program, which in the 2017-2018 academic year includes a focus on how a culture’s particular system of production impacts the scope and nature of its health care resources.

This training on March 28 is intended for civilian primary care medical providers and their staff treating service members, veterans, and family members. The purpose of the training is to educate providers regarding how to better identify these military-connected patients, provide basic information regarding military culture and review military-specific factors that may impact medical care, behavioral health and functioning. An overview of common deployment-related conditions such as PTSD, TBI, insomnia and depression will be presented as well as useful screenings and treatment resources and referral options.
