Founded in 1742, ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is a private, inclusive institution located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Students can choose from more than 70 undergraduate programs of study, and more than  50 advanced degrees and certifications. Each undergraduate student takes part in our Elevate experience and that includes global travel, guaranteed work experience, teamwork and leadership opportunities, unprecedented career support, plus an Apple MacBook Pro, iPad and Apple Watch upon enrollment. ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« has invested heavily in student wellness and the new student center, scheduled to open in 2025, has been designed with students at the forefront.

Is ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« a private or public school?

ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is a small private institution known for offering undergraduate and graduate degrees that blend a leadership focus, career development, and global experiences with liberal arts programs. ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is committed to making our private education affordable to as many students as possible. In fact, 100% of students receive some form of financial aid and we invest more than $60 million annually in merit and need-based grants and scholarships.

Where is ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« located?

ÑÇÖÞÇéɫ’s 100-acre campus is located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Set on the north side of the Lehigh River, the University is actually two campuses, famously linked by the Moravian Mile of Main Street that runs right through the historic downtown. The iconic Moravian star is engraved in our history and present everywhere you turn. ÑÇÖÞÇéɫ’s feel is entwined with that of Bethlehem’s, carrying both the resilience of its steel-town lore and the lightness of the window candles that glow each night in Moravian tradition.

Bethlehem pulses with concerts, restaurants, arts and all the local appeal of a college town. Yet it also sits in just the right spot for an easy drive to New York City, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

On July 26, 2024 Moravian Church Settlements — Bethlehem; Gracehill, Northern Ireland/UK; and Herrnhut, Germany joined Christiansfeld, Denmark (already inscribed in 2015) as a single World Heritage site that represents the outstanding universal value of these historic settlements and the worldwide influence of the Moravian Church.

The City of Bethlehem, ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ«, Bethlehem Area Moravians, Central Moravian Church, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, and Northampton County partnered with one another to help Moravian Church Settlements — Bethlehem join the other three Moravian Settlements and earn World Heritage designation after more than two decades of dedicated work.

ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is just the second university in the United States to be part of a UNESCO World Heritage designation site and only the eighth university in the world to have this very prestigious recognition.

Is ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« a religious school?

ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is not a religious institution. Open to students of every background and faith, we celebrate our historic roots in the Moravian Church and continue our founders' legacy of crossing borders and overcoming barriers. Students are not required to participate in any faith-based activities or academics, however, Moravian's Office of Spirituality and Inclusion provides opportunities for worship, discussion, fellowship, education, and personal growth.

Academics

ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« offers more than 70 areas of study leading to five baccalaureate degrees—bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, and bachelor of science in nursing. Our most popular undergraduate areas of study include:

Moravian's Graduate and Continuing Studies offers more than 50 graduate and certificate programs in the areas of art, behavioral health, education, nursing, and rehabilitation sciences.

In 2023, ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« announced that the School of Professional Studies and Innovation would be launched to serve adult learners seeking to complete their undergraduate degrees, earn a master's degree or complete a professional certificate to help change or reimagine their careers. Moravian's Master of Business Administration (MBA) can be found in the School of Professional Studies and Innovation.

Tuition and Financial Aid

During the 2021-2022 academic year, more than 99% of ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« undergraduate students received some form of financial support, totaling more than $60 million, including assistance from institutional, federal, state, and private sources. Plus, 99% of the Class of 2023 graduates landed a job or started a graduate program within 10 months of graduation—talk about return on investment!
