Bethlehem, Pa., September 24, 2014- Moravian College alumni will return to their alma mater for the 2014 Homecoming weekend on Friday, October 17, and Saturday, October 18. Old and new friends and current students and alumni will join together for a weekend full of events that includes the 23rd Annual Rocco Calvo Invitational Alumni Golf Tournament, class reunions, a Habitat for Humanity build right on campus, Homecoming parade, and the Homecoming football game complete with tailgating activities.
The weekend kicks off with the Rocco Calvo Golf Tournament on Friday, October 17, at the Bethlehem Golf Club.
Students will continue a Moravian tradition, framing a home right on campus for Habitat for Humanity. Students, alum, and Habitat members will work side-by-side as they build a home that will one day house a family in the Lehigh Valley. The build is held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday.
On Friday evening there will be the 10th Anniversary of the Center of Leadership and Service/ Leadership Service. Current students will exchange stories, share successes, and those who attend will learn about upcoming activities.
Saturday morning will start with a Continental breakfast in the HUB Pavilion from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., followed with a mini tour of the newly renovated Collier Hall of Science. The dedication of the renovated area in the hall of science will last until 10:30, and will then be followed by a State of the College address by President Bryon L. Grigsby '90.
The practice field behind the Rocco Calvo Field will be filled with the cheers of Hounds fans at the annual Tailgate Party that begins at 11:00 a.m. Class Reunions for the following classes: 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014. At noon, an alumni band joined by the college marching band, cheerleaders, fraternities and sororities, will march to the gates of the stadium from Johnston Hall in the Homecoming Parade.
Kick-off time between the Moravian College Greyhounds and Susquehanna University will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Steel Field Athletic Complex. Pre-game will be at 12:45 p.m. The Men's Soccer team game will be at 1:00 p.m at the HUB Quad against Susquehanna University. The Women's Soccer game will be at 3:30 p.m at the HUB Quad against Susquehanna University as well.
