Bethlehem, Pa., October 9, 2015— Renowned contemporary American folk singer and alumnus John Gorka ’80 will perform at Moravian College on Friday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m., in Peter Hall as part of Homecoming Weekend. The public is invited to attend and general admission is $25.
In 1991, Rolling Stone magazine called him "the preeminent male singer-songwriter of what has been dubbed the New Folk Movement. To date, Gorka has released 11 albums and been given the opportunity to perform on the stages of Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, and he has appeared on CNN. His most recent album was released in March 2014 called The Bright Side Down.
While a student at Moravian College, Gorka focused on studies in philosophy and history, but he eventually became interested in music. In 1987, he released his first album with Red House Records, I know. He has caught the attention of critics and audiences from around the world taking his tour to Italy, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Switzerland and Germany.
