The Morning Call鈥檚 top workplaces are selected through an analysis of confidential surveys of employees that were conducted in the fall by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. Employees were asked whether they agreed with 19 statements about their workplaces.

According to WorkplaceDynamics, the statement with the strongest correlation to a high ranking is "I believe this company is going in the right direction.鈥 (If employees tended to agree with that statement, they were likely to rate their workplace favorably in other areas too, resulting in an overall high ranking for their workplace.) Other statements with high correlation to a high ranking were: "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company;" "I have confidence in the leader of this company;" and, "My job makes me feel like I am part of something meaningful."
