Katherine Steinly - Add-Venture Program
The path taken by Katherine “Kat” Steinly ’11 is representative of the best parts of Add-Venture. She initially entered the program combining music composition and creative writing, but after thoroughly enjoying a class on Jewish and Christian feminism, she changed her mind and created the perfect major for herself—actually a double major in Religion and German with a minor in women’s studies.
“I was quite passionate about my initial two majors,” she says, “but discovered other opportunities once I got involved in the campus community. Add-Venture gave me the freedom and flexibility to pursue these opportunities. I met all the requirements of my majors because of this program.”
Steinly will attend the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, and plans to be a pastor, ultimately working with young families, offering them supportive community as they raise their children.
“Add-Venture is not a program for someone who doesn’t have a real passion for something, but it is valuable for someone who knows their talents and has a vision of where they’re going.”
