In a letter from Noe Ortega, Acting Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, it was stated that Moravian College is now approved to “operate as a university.”

The college announced Friday that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved Moravian’s request to become a university, sealing the deal on a process that began last fall.

The two Bethlehem Area School District students — Valenzuela from Freedom High School, Ponce from Liberty High School — were awarded the BASD Superintendent’s Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition at Moravian.

The program name change was announced to current Moravian Graduate Business students enrolled in the program and is reflected on the updated webpage, moravian.edu/msda.
