Reed Raymond College Readiness Program of the Lehigh Valley

The Reed Raymond College Readiness Program of the Lehigh Valley at ÑÇÖÞÇéÉ« is a comprehensive, 5-day, overnight campus experience that prepares college-eager students and their families from the Lehigh Valley region for the extensive college search process.

Who: Students from Lehigh Valley area high schools with a special focus on students from the Allentown School District, Bethlehem Area School District, and the Easton Area School District.
When: Tuesday, June 24 through Saturday, June 28, 2025

Our Mission

To prepare aspiring Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton area high school students and their families for college success by providing guidance, mentorship, and models of excellence.

 

Reed Raymond ‘74 Bio

A. Reed Raymond ’74 is a dedicated leader and advocate for education, leadership development, and diversity in professional spaces. A 1974 alumnus of Moravian College, Raymond built a distinguished career as the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s Department of Supervision Regulation and Credit. Throughout his career, he has championed initiatives focused on mentorship, leadership, and the importance of inclusion in academic and professional settings.

As a former member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Student Life Committee of Moravian College, Raymond has been deeply invested in creating pathways for students from historically underrepresented communities. His perseverance and leadership in pursuing his undergraduate degree in the 1970s and his commitment to education and inclusion inspired the establishment of the Reed Raymond College Readiness Program of the Lehigh Valley, formerly the Black and Latino Male College Readiness Program. This initiative reflects his passion for empowering young scholars with the skills, resources, and mentorship necessary to excel in higher education and beyond.

Raymond's leadership and mentorship have left a lasting impact on students, reinforcing the values of academic excellence, resilience, and civic engagement. The program bearing his name continues his legacy of fostering college readiness and leadership development for future generations.


Program Overview

This high school-to-college initiative is the first of its kind in the Lehigh Valley and will provide students who are entering grades 10, 11, and 12 with a comprehensive experience to learn about the college search process. Additionally, we will facilitate a series of conversations, provide mentorship, and offer counsel on the process of navigating college. This cohort of young men from high schools in the Lehigh Valley region will learn from local leaders in business, education, the faith community, government, and the nonprofit sector. The program will include social gatherings to create bonds, group discussions that promote introspection, and networking opportunities to enhance the students’ interpersonal skills. Additionally, a number of invited guests and local leaders will facilitate keynote presentations to provide inspiration, hope, motivation, and positive models of success.

This experience is 100% FREE with a value of more than $1,000 and includes:
